The Southern Nevada Conservancy Board of Directors has several board vacancies and welcomes candidates to apply.  The Board especially needs individuals with a financial, accounting, non-profit management, fundraising, community outreach, and/or a corporate background. Interested candidates should fill out an application and submit a resume below.

Since 1988, SNC has worked extensively at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and later, Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (Mt. Charleston), Desert National Wildlife Refuge Complex, and California Trail Interpretive Center to support our federal agency partners.

The Board of Directors for Southern Nevada Conservancy (SNC) is composed of community leaders who are dedicated to the mission of the organization. Serving on the Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about stewardship of public lands in Nevada. Board service is for a three-year term, with the option to serve a total of three consecutive three-year terms. Board meetings are normally held five times per year on the evening of the third Thursday of the month. Board meetings may be held at the SNC administrative office, via Teams, and/or onsite at various project locations. Meeting schedules are subject to change.

It is the responsibility of every Board Member to do the following:

  • Fully understand and demonstrate a commitment to the Mission of the Southern Nevada Conservancy.
  • Read and understand the organization’s financial statements and otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Represent the organization to their respective communities, and actively seek new opportunities and build new relationships to support our mission and the missions of our partner agencies.
  • Understand the basics of good governance.
  • Maintain confidentiality of internal Board discussions.
  • Follow the Board’s policies, bylaws, and resolutions.
  • Make every effort to attend all Board meetings and related meetings.
  • Review Board materials prior to each meeting and come prepared to participate in discussions and ask questions.
  • Serve on one or more Board committees and actively participate in committee work.
  • Actively participate in the Board’s annual evaluation and planning efforts.
  • Join as a contributing member at a personally meaningful level.
  • Participate in fund raising for the organization as requested.
  • Get to know other members and build a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus.
