Spring Mountains National Recreation Area

Commonly referred to as Mt. Charleston, the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area is managed by the USDA Forest Service. Located only 30 miles northwest of Las Vegas, the Spring Mountains offer a wide variety of recreational enjoyment, unique wildlife, and plant diversity as well as milder, cooler temperatures.

Part of Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, the largest national forest in the lower 48 states, the Spring Mountains have a lot to offer outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Ski Lee Canyon, hike Mount Charleston, or relax at Kyle Canyon’s The Retreat on Charleston Peak. Escape the heat at elevations anywhere between 3,000 and 12,000 feet and enjoy hiking, photography, volunteer opportunities, and picnics.

Your Las Vegas Gateway To Mt. Charleston

Southern Nevada Conservancy works with the USDA Forest Service, through multiple cooperative agreements, to provide retail services, site rental management, interpretive education staff, volunteer opportunities, and year-round programs in the Spring Mountains using the Go Mt Charleston brand.
