There is no way to sugarcoat that 2020 was a challenging year for our organization, community an country. With so much uncertainty revolving around the COVID pandemic, the organization had to rethink how to continue our mission of creating opportunities to discover, understand, and enjoy your public lands all while the sites we worked at where effectively shut down. Naturally, the team shifted toward producing online content to engage with the quarantined community with digital hikes, video clips a campaign to enjoy public lands responsibly and even a crowd sourced coloring book. As the pandemic waned in the summer we slowly made our way out of our digital burrows and picked up once again with informational trail head tabletops and re-opening of our flagship store at Red Rock Canyon NCA.
As we break ourselves out of the COVID chrysalis we are going to emerge as a different organization. The pandemic provided us the space to make very conscious decisions about how we want the organization to function, with precise structure and planning. The pandemic showed that the Conservancy is resilient through the most challenging times and able to turn crisis into opportunity.
We are still a ways from whatever the new “normal” will be but with the partnerships of our federal land management partners, fellow conservation groups and our cherished members, the Conservancy will continue to develop new ways to ensure our public lands are enjoyed and protected for a long time to come, no matter what life may throw at us. Farewell 2020, cheers to 2021!
